hey all, I'm thinking of getting a bolt in cage and was wondering if any of you had any recommendations.

I've looked at these too, and I really like the Off Road Fab cage. The fact that it runs right alongside your dash and down to the floor without taking up leg-room looks like a great design to me. It also has the dash spreader bar, and quite a few optional bars as well.
I think Toys by Troy makes one as well (though it might be a weld-in cage)...but it seems like I saw a video of one of his cages in a rollover on the rocks and it performed very well.

What's so bad about the factory cage? I would likw to get supports that run from the connection at the windshield down to the floor for more support but is the factory setup that bad?

Yeah I was looking at the PSC one and the one from ORF. The factory cage is not that bad for dd at all tag but I know as I progress and do harder and harder trails, the chance of a flop or a rollover will increase and I want to make sure that me and my occupants are well protected.

I had a Toys By Troy Sport Cage in my old TJ w/ spreaders and I liked it. I might go that way again or try Rock Hard's. Hopefully, a cage will never "Need" to be used. But ANYTHING is better than what comes from the factory!

Dont remember which board i read it on, may have been this one, but jeep offically refers to the stock cage as sport bars instead of roll bars (since then I noticed it in the manual) possibly to avoid legal issues. I'm sure that's enough to make some people nervous.

Totally agree RubiRed I've seen some rolled jeeps and it seems the commonly crushed area was the front windshield, and if I'm going to be doing stuff like Moab & the Rubicon in the near future then I want to make sure I'm protected incase something like this happens: www.toysbytroy.com/Video_Files/tracyroll_Large.mpeg

I had the OR Fab cage in my last TJ. It was a good setup and made it reall easy to drop your front windshield. Two little bolts and the windshield was done and you still had cage over your head to protect you. Travis

how was the install onf the rock hard cage? the hardest part was finding rattle can paint to match (khaki). After it was all painted, it took about an hour to remove the factory cage padding . And about 2 hours to install the Rock Hard cage .

Another benefit of the aftermarket cage is that you can run a trail with the windshield down and still have full rollover protection.

Thanks for input guys. I've saved up enough cash so it'll be either the orfab, rockhard or if it comes out the patrol cage from psc
