Several weeks ago, I bashed my tranny pan, placing about a 1-inch dent in the pan, and breaking the seal, which started a slow leak. I dropped the pan, pounded out the dent, replaced the seal with RTV, and the damage was fixed. However the root cause was not. Yesterday I fixed the problem permanently with the Skid Row engine skid. It covers the oil pan and tranny pan. The protection goes from just rear of the front axle, all the way to a smooth mount to the stock t-case skid. First, I started by installing a Fumoto oil drain valve, with nipple and hose. This will make oil changes through the opening in the skid far simpler. Installation of the skid was mind-numbingly simple. The only hard work was drilling three holes in the t-case skid. (I need new drill bits) The attachment points are the driver's side motor mount, the passenger side lower control arm, and the t-case skid. Rounded bolt heads on the t-case side should make that a smooth transition for gliding over obstacles. Here is the resulting peace-of-mind: Oddly enough, Quadratec had the best price. Shipping was reasonable, although Brown dropped it during shipping and lost all the mounting hardware, delaying the install for a week while I waited for replacement parts.

Great looking skid. How much and where did you get that oil drain plug from? I've been looking pretty hard at the skid row skidplate. It's good to see one installed and hear that they go on with relative ease. That might be my next purchase.

I had to go directly to the manufacturer, because they don't appear to resell through anybody: www.fumotovalve.com/It was a tad under $30 shipped. I bought part number F101N (w/ nipple). I wanted the nipple for two reasons: 1) I like to say nipple 2) I wanted to attach a hose, to run it right to the drain pan. I actually gravitated toward the Jeep Medic skid, which covers the same area. But they are in the middle of a redesign, and I didn't want to wait for months.

From the look at the side picture, it doesn't look like that skid would work with a tummy tuck?? Am I right about that?
Otherwise, GOOD job...and thanks for the Fumoto info....I've seen a lot lately about Nipples and skids (and I like saying that too....LOL)....

I did the same skid a few months age with the Fumoto drain. I went to the hardware store and got a plastic cap to slid over the drain tube to keep dirt out of it when wheelin. It's like the cap you get to cover the end of a bolt so you don't get cut.

What does the Skid Row plate mount up to up front? I have a Warn oil/engine skid which is great (although it is a little thinner than the others out there). Up front it mounts with a cross member that uses your front control arm mounts. On the drivers side the cross member goes up and over the front drive shaft as to not interfere with any articulation or lifts. The cross member also has recessed bolts so they can't get sheared off on rocks. The back bolts to the t-case skid just like the Skid Row.
I didn't do all that much research on it, but last year at the Jeep Jamboree I went to, a lot of people were checking it out - apparently they were having issues finding skids that allowed a sharper drive shaft angle that comes with the lift.
As for the Fumoto valve - does the hose come off?

Up front it attaches to the passenger-side lower control arm mount, and the driver's side motor mount.
Yes, the tube comes off. I decided to remove it and store it after the skid was installed. I'll plug it in when I drain the oil.
