Today I took about about an hour and a half and installed the Skid row gas tank skid that I waited 2 months for. It fits right over the stock skid. The directions leave somethings for you to figure out yourself. I crawled under the jeep and figured where the front bracket went. It attaches to the front bolts that hold the stock skid on. The rear brackets go up onto the frame. I had to drill 2 holes in the frame. There is a nut stick that holds the bolt on for the rear tow hook. I had to take that off. (It went back on at the end.) I put the skid on the floor jack and put it up in place. This allowed me to line up everything before drilling or attaching anything. I step drilled the 1/2" holes for the rear brackets. There is a nut stick that you have to feed up into the hole in the frame to reach back to the hole you just drilled for the rear bracket. I am holding it in the picture. I painted the stock skid red to show through the cutouts in the Skid row skid. Re jack up the skid into place and tighten up everything. I did this without jacking up the Jeep. (I do have a 2 1/2" lift) This is a very easy install. The amount of clearance you lose seems to be about a 1/2" total.

That's pretty cool! How much did the skid plate run?

I got it from WWW.4X4ROCKSHOP.COM . I think I paid about 225.00. They have it on their site now for $249.00 with free shipping. You may look around and find it cheaper. But keep in mind that it's heavy so free shipping is probably worth 35-40 bucks.
