My latest mod. I installed Rock Barz. I didn't really want bars or steps but my little one has a hard time getting in the Jeep and of course there are the ladies to think of. Anyway, I don't like the tube style nerf bars and the steps are kind of bla to me so I thought I'd try something I don't see on other Jeeps. The install was straight up. I had to drill 16 5/16 holes in the frame. The bars came with self tapping [bahahaha, yeah right] bolts. I ended up tapping all the holes before I installed to bolts. Luckly I had lock washers the right size. I think they look ok. I would give them a 7 for fit and finish.

Those look good tag!
Who makes "Rock Barz"?
I am trying to figure out something along the same lines because my wife, (all 5ft. of her...), has a hell of a time when the Jeep is lifted, gettting in & out.
I want something that offers protection and functions as a step also. I'm also not sure if I want frame mounted or a body mounted rocker/step.
Decisions, decisions. ;D

Another option is one I just ordered from Quadratec. The Body Armor Side Guards for the LJ. They are similar to the Rock Barz but have an additional tube that extends out for a step and you dont have to drill into the frame to install them. I also have a wife and 2 small boys so I neded the protection and steps. When I get the guards I'll post a review. Body armor has a special until sometime in Dec that if you buy the rear bumper/tire carrier you get the Side Guards free. I wish I had the extra cash or I'd be all over that.

It's called the Xtreme package or something like that. The only problem is that the rear bumper/tire carrier is $999. The side guards are something like $400. or so. not a bad deal if you have the cash. I will say that I like the latch set-up on the tire carrier offered in that deal. The same kind was on my Younger Bros. tire carrier/rear bumper, and that thing was AWESOME!

Any vendor that sells Body Armor should have the deal since it is a factory special but I just found it at www.4wd.com. It is pricey, but the nice thing is that the tire carrier/bumper comes with the Jerry can Mounts, CB antenna mount, and jack mount at no extra cost. Most of the other brands offer these at an extras. Happy hunting.
