I have a line on a set of soft doors for my jeep which I want ever so badly, but they're tan and I need grey/black. . . . any way to paint them or dye them to the right color or am I dreaming? a quick answer would be appreciated as these are first come first served. . . . also, if I can't match them to my jeep - I could pick them up cheap (still negotiating) and send them to one of you for cost after I get some pictures.

I doubt painting will really give you the results you would want. You probably could buy just the interior of the door at the stealership for a lot less than the whole door - just an idea.

i didn't think there was an interior on soft doors. it's denim or something all around. I may just kick for new ones, they're only 170 or somethin, but then I know i'll want uppers. which are another 200+

My bad - I thought you were looking at a set of half-doors, which do have an interior to the bottoms.
As for the soft doors, I doubt paint would hold up on the exterior and dying it would be tough.
I am looking at the BestTop SuperDoor soft upper/lower combo for the summer. I can't stand lugging off the full steel doors every so often and the soft doors would be easy to throw in to my Tuffy box when I want to. Not bad for both uppers and lowers for $365 or so new and you can get the same color and material as your soft top.

Check out a marine sail maker and see if they can die the fabric.

I did the exact thing you are thinking of doing.
I got a set of gray soft doors, (tops & bottoms), and wanted them to be black.
After a little searching, I found a paint at Ace which is a fabric paint that actually dyes the fabric.
They turned out AWESOME!!!!!!
I can't remember the brand but, I will check and repost when I get home from work. I will also see if I have any pics of the before & after of the doors.
I was skeptical at first if they would even look decent after painting them but, I am a believer now.
