My brother in law owns a 2005 SWB Rubicon. I've been trying to convince him to put a lift on it and some bigger tires but while discussing it he asked me the following question and I thought I would post it here because I wasn't sure of the answer. Since he has the lockers on his axles, if he re-gears would his lockers still work or would they have to be replaced? I know he has the 4.11's and he wouldn't run into any real problems unless he drastically went up in tire size, it was more of an "I wonder" question......

Depends on the lockers...since these are air activated lockers (Not ARB's) it may still work. The ARB's have a range of gear ratios that they are good for. Sorry I'm no help, but if anyone wants to donate their rubicon axles to me so that I can find out...I'd gladly make the exchange

Yes you can regear the rubicons and retain the stock factory lockers. The current gear choices for rubicons are 4.56 and 4.88's and soon to be 5.13's if alloy usa ever releases them. The gears for the rubicon are rubicon specific and use a thick ring gear. Several places make them such as alloy usa, superior and yukon. I am currently running the superior 4.88's and have no complaints.

Depending on what tire size he is going with he might not have to regear. The rubis already have 4.11 so you can run a 33 inch tire easily without haveing to regear.
