I know a lot of people remove their floats and just leave the bumpers open. Some of the new 2006 Wranglers are coming in with no floats and just a clean end cap. The end caps clean up the ends and look pretty nice I think. Stock Stock floats removed New end caps

Those are nice and definitely clean up the look of the bumper without the big floats that came on the rest of ours. I think I threw mine away...or their occupying a box up in my attic How much did the new ones run you??

FYI, your parts guy might look at you like you are stupid, because the parts listed for 2006 are still the water wings.
Here are the part numbers that I lifted from another server.
55078138AA 55078139AA
Not sure how much they run at the dealership. My parts guy looked at me like I was stupid.

They are 2.50 a piece at the dealer, so you should be able to get a set of 4 for 10 bucks, a lot of dealers are marking them up hardcore, if so go to a different dealer.

For $10, I am all over it. I will have to try another dealership. I hate the waterwings witha passion. My wife gives me a stupid look when I talk about how much I loath them (They don't bother her). As I am not yet in the market for new bumpers, this is perfect for me.

Update: Waiting on the new front and rear bumper ends to arrive. Total cost to me...$10. Here is a shot of the front with and without the water wings. I will hopefully get the new ones tomorrow or the next day. Tag...did your new ones come with the Christmas tree connectors?

Yes they came with the connectors.
I haven't put the ends on the back bumper yet. I don't know if I will.

I finally got mine on Thursday, and put them on. I think the front and back both look better with the new style endcaps. It looks a lot cleaner.
Also, The set I got from the dealer did not come with the connectors, but I reused my hardware by simply using a screwdriver to pop the hardware off of the floaties, then used them like nuts on the bottom of the Torx bolts.
In order to keep the look consistent up front, I put one torkhead bolt in the back hole on the front bumper just for looks.
Well worth the $10 to me.
