say that 10 times fast! well, I found a guy on a local trading post website that sold me some lockers for 20 bucks. they're 4 sided keys, solid construction and tamper proof (read "tamper resistant") putting them on was pretty simple, but aligning them was a PITA - nothing a few cigarettes and a pot of coffee can't handle in the AM. The job was easy and it will help deter battery theft or disabling of the alarm system that I hope to get. definite recommendation on my part. they also sell lockers that lock on the latch in the middle to save you from the aligning portion of these things. they look pretty cool too!

They look nice. Most of the locking latches I see are gaudy looking. Those look clean. Where does the key go in? Underneath?

key goes into the rear of it so water doesn't get in and freeze (you can barely see the little + in the top picture) nice design, and I'll be sure to spray some WD40 in there to keep the ice out though. I really like how the wrangler's locks are reversed respectively on each door, and only wish this product did the same thing. I have to turn one up then the other down, oh well.
Since I picked it up used, I was weary of all parts while putting it on. Turns out, the dude I got it from only tried to put one side on - couldn't get it alligned, then quit - the other side's bolts have NO marks from torquing and the airplane nut (nut with the nylon ring on top) has no treads eaten into it. pretty good deal for 20 bucks. Now I'm hoping to pick up an OME lift that some dude couldn't figure out for 20 bucks!!!!
If anyone's interested, I could get the model name and stuff.

That thing actually doesn't look too bad. You could have put only one of them on, and sold the other one to a buddy for $20. You would have the same protection, and it would only have cost you the time to install one. just my I do understand the symmetry issues...It would have probably driven me crazy to have one different hood latch.

I actually thought of that. 2 things swayed me - symmetry issues like you said, but if someone's going to try to bust into my hood, they would just be able to bend up the hood and take what they please. this way it's secured on there. thanks for the compliments, and the suggestions.

You know they also make the little lock that goes into your grill and makes it so that the actuall hood latch can't be moved. It's only $20 and works quite well. I'm a "purist"...I've gotta have the standard rubber band latches up front...they're just one of the many cool things about the Jeep!!!

update - the weather got a little chilly the other day, and it seems when the metal contracts, the pins lose their alignment a bit. not a big deal, but you may want to save the frustration and get a different lock if you've got a hot temper.

I thought about those locks but I don't like the fact that one slip of the hood and you can dent the fenders. So I got the under the hood latch and it works well.

Have you guys tried the hood lift??? I love it. and no prop rod to work around ;D Where did you get the hood louvers? They are exhauster vents. one came off of my tailgate and the other one came from dealer parts dept. $17 They reduced underhood temps by almost 20 degrees by scooping up the radiator discharge air and ejecting it with the fan propwash. Its an AZ jeep thing
