Here is an idea I had to get me some extra storage with out giving up floor space. It is especially handy when the top is off and all your stuff is out for the world to help themselves to. Now if someone really wants it and has a big screwdriver with him he can pry it open. If I could weld I would use metal. This is 1/2" plywood covered with vinyl and has 2 cabinet locks. I used band clamps around the rollbar with the connectors inside the box. The vinyl keeps the water out and it looks good. There are problems useing either top with it.

Do you think it would be a hazzard to rear passengers? I don't run with my rear seat very often, but once in awhile we have visitors and carry passengers in the jump seat.
I suppose that one could just remove the storage box for that ride.
Nice work. I maintain that the Jeep is the Mr. Potatohead of vehicles. You're only proving my point.

It may be possible that it would interfer with back seat riding. The first thing I did when I got the Unlimited was to take the rear seat out, including the seat belt stuff. Some day when I sell it a brand new never used seat will go back in. I use the Jeep for work sometimes and want the floor space for my tools. The box does not hang down any lower then the bottom of the roll bar. If anyone wants to make one and use the back seat check it out first for head room. Headroom was something I never thought of given how I use the Jeep.
