We grounded mine behind the dash, so no wires to see. I didn't mind drilling the holes because I have the little rubber piece that goes over to cover it. I have great reception and can transmit perfectly. I think it's because where my antenna is mounted too. It's on the back, by my spare tire. A special mount made by a guy that hand makes them. Very sturdy and great reception. Anyone interested, let me know. He can get them to you for about $16 shipped. I've referred several folks to him.
