Well, at least you got an Unlimited for the hassle. Poor Chevy.
(P.S.- I graduated from Merritt Island H.S. just north of you)

how much did the insurance cut you for the total, if it's not too much to ask? were you able to keep the wrecked car? parting it out could get you a decent amount of money. plus - i see project jeep written all over it

Seeing those pictures puts my wife's mind at ease about the safety of the Jeep. Between these pictures and others I've showed her, it looks like TJs and LJs hold up pretty well in an accident. I'm glad you aren't hurt.

they good part was i only had the jeep for six months. i paid 14600 for it . insurance was 14100-500(ded)=13600. and when i bought my unlimited they cut me a check for 850 for taxes paid on the tj. They had to reinburse me sales tax due to the vehichle was totoaled within 1 year of purchase. So i actually made out. and the ss bumpers had came of my yj i sold 3 weeks prior to this one getting totalled. it was a sad month, i went from two jeeps to none.

There is certainly a lot of good to latch onto here. You weren't hurt, you got a new Unlimited, and the TJ really held up well. I'm still dumbfounded to look at the pictures and try to see how that TJ is a total loss. Sounds more like an insurance adjuster who wanted a cheap trail rig.

I have never wondered why my insurance is cheaper with my Jeep. My mom once hit a car broadside that turned out in front of her as she was travelling around 35-40 mph. It was a Honda, and was unrecognizable afterward. The bumper on my dad's CJ was bent on one side, and he hooked a chain around a tree in the yard and pulled it back out. Good as new.

their was a lot of damage that was hidden. the body under the rear seat was pushed up into the seat. in front of both door openings were waved. above the driver rear wheel well was waved. the frame was bent. i broke the driver seat, bent the shifter. and it would not start due to the fact the fuel pump in the gas tank was nocked/ jared so severlly. the gas tank was shifted about 1-2 inches forward. insurance wanted to fix it, it only had 50000 miles, but delearship wouldn,t touch it unless they would approve new frame. they said the last time the straighten a frame it came back to bite them in the kester.
