So i thought the post may get some attention. Its not even close to speculation, but I honestly cant see why they wouldnt do that?
there is enpough room in the bay for the 4.7, its a strong mid-grade V8, and the 4-door is heavy enough to meet emmision nazi standards.
anyone know why Jeep refused to give the 4-door some "git-up 'n Go"?

I agree with your argument. There seems no reason why they under powered the 4 DR. But most auto companies hold back things for future release to keep the model new. Like the diesel engine in the Liberty and the Hemi in several models. It sort of keeps things new. Draws in more people with each release. Just my guess.

I'm sure that it had something to do with launching the 4 dr with limited changes in the lines. i'm sure that DCX had their concerns about extending that risk of taking an icon like the wrangler and making such a drastic change. w/o knowing the facts, I'm sure that DCX was testing the waters with the beloved LJ's. and making the body style change was going to be huge. Now that they have seen the smashing success of the JKL I'm sure that people are Really, I may consider if a baby cummins or the 3.0CRD from the WKs is dropped in it, but my 4.0 is good enough for now.

agreed, the CRD would be a pretty cool option.. with the diesel, in theory it could be converted to bio-diesel, bringing an entire new thought to the tread lightly motto. ask me how i'm saving the environment on a JKL with 35s.
