I added a winch plate aftermarkert bigger tow hooks to the front end. Now I want to pull off the stock bumper and put on my rock bumper. I dont know if I should reuse the stock mounting bolts, Im worried they arent long enough anymore. It will all bolt down but Im not sure how many threads are actually grabbing. I went to the part store to get some grade 8 bolts but thread pattern isn't quite right. The only other option is to drop down to a grade 5 for right thread, Im leary about putting grade 5 bolts to the winch plate and tow hooks. Advice would be great. Travis

Travis I'm not 100% positive, but it seems like the front bumper bolts were metric. (the ones with the torx heads on them). Another option when you put the new bumper on is just to get a new rock bumper that has shackle mounts on it (D-rings). Then, just don't reinstall your factory front tow hooks. The D-rings will make a better towing point anyway. That should give you plenty of bolt length. Try finding metric grade 8 bolts... take one of your stockers with you and run a nut up and down it...that will be an easy enough test to see if you got the right thread pitch. In the directions for my Warn Winch, I believe it called out the bolt sizes and thread pitch... I'll see if I can round those directions up tonight.

Hey thanks, thats a good idea about the hooks. I actually welded in D mounts into the bumper im puting on. They were only 2.5 "s long though so they are only welded on the frontside. I ended up getting the 4" d ring mounts for the rear bumper that I welded front and rear. I worry about the short ones getting yanked off the front so I was gonna leave the tow hooks on just in case. I will look around to I think I have my Warn manual somewhere. Travis

It's a good idea to put your tow hooks back on for recovery. If the D-ring mounts are only attached to the front of the bumper, it's not safe to use them as recovery.
