Owners; What options could you have lived without & what options do you wish you ordered?

Mine has pretty much everything they offer, and at my age, a little luxury ain't a bad thing. I do wish they had a dual top option, since I haven't been able to find a soft-top yet. Really, the only thing I'm disappointed with is the transmission. It just doesn't feel real smooth, like it's not sure what gear it wants. They tell me it works fine, and I don't have anything to compare it to, as this is the only Wrangler I've driven.

Heh, Heh, Heh! I just finished driving to Richmond and back (550 miles, round trip), and I must say, the cruise worked great. Sorry, had to do it.

They tell me it works fine, and I don't have anything to compare it to, as this is the only Wrangler I've driven. You might get this checked out. I had transmission trouble with mine too, at about 400-500 miles. It would stall at lights or taking off from stops, it would seem to get stuck in gear or skip gears like it didn't know which one to go to. Finally I took it in and explained this to them, they put it on the machine, drove it around the parking lot a few times and the check engine light came on. The valve body was bad in it. Something to do with maybe being installed as a bad part. So you might keep an eye on this and if your check engine light comes on, this might be the cause of your problem. If it gets too bad, take it in. Have them call Farrish Jeep of Fairfax, VA and ask them about the Unlimited that was brought in in April of 2004. They will be able to pull up what codes it pulled on the machine and tell you what was wrong with mine. Could be the same problem your having, it just might not be setting the engine light yet.

I wish the AC had a bi-level setting. It's either full on the face or on your feet, no in between....

No trailer hitch on mine. Oh well, I'm hoping to get a tube bumper with a hitch one of these days. Let it be known that I traded in my 2000 GMC Extended Cab pickup for my Jeep. It was loaded with accessories but I knew what I was getting into when I bought my Unlimited. It's my wife and two kids who miss the pickup, not me. Funny thing though, I watched my wife pull into the driveway about a month ago. The Jeep hard top was off, the music was pretty loud and she had a smile on her face. I think she was just beginning to understand!

Ridge, I am starting work on custom accessories for the Unlimited. I made alot of custom parts for my Scrambler when I had it. My first project will be a rear Bumper with receiver built in ans well as the electrical connection, and two D-rings for towing the unfortunate out of their predicaments, solid, functional and good looking. Will post pictures of the bumper I put on my scrambler today or tonight. Dave ;D Ps,: Swing away tire/gas can/handyman jack carrier to follow. ;D

I find the transmission great on my 2004. Anytime it has a tendency to "hunt" between 3rd and 4th, I just lock out 4th with the electric overdrive, which is a really nifty device.
Had an electric, on the panel, overdrive in a 1960 Triumph TR-3, and haven't seen one since, until I got my Unlimited.
I solved the top problem by buying the Unlimited with the hardtop, and buying the Jeep softtop from parts at the same time.
Now, if the Dealership could just change my oil without leaving a pint of dirty oil in my oilpan skidplate...

Sounds great slpbear, I'll be looking forward to the pictures. I'll definitely need a receiver, especially since I traded in my pickup. Just need to get a small trailer to haul stuff in as well. Ridge

I believed the press predictions (in October) that the 2005 Rubi Unlimited would be a "late model year" arrival. So I bought my 04 in October and started seeing the Rubi's pop up a couple months later. Oh well. I'm just slowly building mine into the poor man's version.

So I bought my 04 in October and started seeing the Rubi's pop up a couple months later. Oh well. I'm just slowly building mine into the poor man's version. When I bought my LJ last May I knew more about them then the dealers that I went to. I could get not info about possible Rubi versions, manual, nothing... I guess DC was keeping in on the DL but, now a year later I am drooling over the Rubi version and with 25K miles the trade in would not be worth it yet. I will get mune eventually but for now it is just fine. So the options I would have like to get ... 6-speed Man, D44 F&R, better gears and a dual top option... The friggin' Rubi package..... Damn!! Oh and a tow hitch. G
