Heya - Been an LJ owner since 2005 and been on many boards - in fact run a couple of the boards for my area - but never gave it much thought to venture out looking for an Unlimited only board - recently started thinking about building one and searched around and here I am! So glad to find other Unlimited owners - Very cool Today I'm semi stock running a 2" budget boost and procomp 32's - but I'm in the middle of collecting all the goods to do my Long arm lift and then some - which prompted me to start looking around for other LJ owners. Hope to learn a ton and contribute as much as I can as well.

Welcome aboard from southcentral Pennsylvania!! Ditto, Welcome! So, what type of long arm kit are you saving for? Well - that's part of the reason I started lurking around here to see what is working for others. So far I'm going to go custom - basically the only thing I'm using from a kit is the RE skid plate - It seems like the best starting place for what I want - I like that it's modular and all too. All the links will be custom - new control arm mounts in place of smaller stock mounts etc. 1"bl, 1"mml, 4.5-5" springs REAR: -Rear Truss -Triangulated Upper control Arms with 1.5"x.250" DOM -Straight lower control arms from 1.75"x.375" DOM Front the same but radius style - custom trackbar to replace stock - hi-steer setup on the front end using 1 ton TRE's and 1.25" x .375" wall DOM I've been fighting with myself if it's all worth it or to just get an RELA or Clayton kit etc - There are so many great kits out there today it's really hard to decide which way to go.

I am at the exact same point as you! Building your own arms seems fairly simple and would be awesome to know that you did all the work. Lately I have been reading on Pirate4x4 and JeepForum how guys make there own parts. Are you planning on keeping the stock axles?
Keep us updated as you move forward with your build.

For now stock axles yes - although I keep running into that wall on the front LPD30 - can't get super tall gears in them - they only go as high as 4.88...i'd like 5.13's but no chance. I've got a spare HP 30, but if I'm going to put a new axle under it - I'd hate to not take the chance to upgrade it on the spot. Just can't afford it all at once I don't think. Mine's also a Lease - lease is up in September and I planned to buy it out - so I gotta drop $16,000 or so just to keep the damn thing in a few months.
