Hi, new Member here, from Illinois. Had a new '93 Wrangler years ago, miss havin a Wrangler. I have owned several Cherokees since then, but now with the 4-door Unlimited, I finally will have a Wrangler with room for my dogs. Currently saving up for a new Rubicon Unlimited, probably will be getting an '08 by the time I am ready.
Anyone have any idea on the wait for ordering one? Any rumors as to what options will be available or differences on the '08s? I'd love to here of a V8 option, but don't see it happening.
Hope to gather some good information here, seems like a pretty good forum.

As for the V8 option, give it some time......DC has listened thus far to what Jeep owners have wanted. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new powerplant in the JK's by 2010. Welcome to the board.

Went to the dealer this week, worked out the ordering process. Going in on Monday to order a '08 Unlimited X with the S option, 6-speed, Locker rear (with front swaybar disconnect, a mandatory option with the locker), dual top, trailer tow, power convienience, and tubular side steps. My wife and I, after much long debate over color, finally decided on Light Greystone Pearl, we both really like it. The Jeep website does not have a good representation of that color, but after seeing one in person, it is perfect. Of course, Light Greystone Pearl is not an option for '08. AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! So now it's between Silver Metallic or Jeep Green (dark). I am leaning towards Silver because it will contrast well with black accessories. 1 thing that gets me, the tubular side steps are $395 option, while the black appearance group is $685 and only gets you black fuel door filler and black taillight guards in addition to the side steps. $295 for fuel filler door and taillight guards?!?!?!? I think not. Hopefully ordering the locker rear end will not delay build too long, but I won't be surprised if it does. Dealer told me Rubicons are so backordered it would probably be 7-8 months before delivery, hopefully mine will be 3-4. Wife even found a buyer for my '01 Cherokee, guy she works with wants it and is willing to wait until I get my Wrangler before doing the sale. Already have ordered catalogs from Quadratrac and others, will be forming my wish list from them.

Congrats! getting a new car is always exciting.
Ordering those mags is a big mistake! You'll start looking through them and want everything in there. At first you'll say " That would be cool, but I'll wait"
Week later, your broke, and happy! (Except for your wife)
Both of those colors would be cool, I personally like jeep Green better but Silver does contrast with black great.
Good Luck!

Well, it's ordered as of 2 hours ago. Now I get to become part of the Wrangler waiting headache and heartache game! Got a sweet deal, $100 over dealer invoice. My dealer is law enforcement friendly, plus one of my co-workers is good friends with the sales manager.

Good luck with the wait. Hope it goes by fast. Start checking the catalogs for your first mods.

They are pretty capable machines stock, I followed one around the trails the other day and he went places I had trouble going. I did have to winch him once, he was high centered on a rock on a slope. He had 3 wheels in the air at once and no traction with the one on the ground, I wish I had the pictures. He was really stuck good, pulled my unlimited about 10 feet, then we hooked it to my unlimited and a really built scout on 38's and he drug them too. Finally had to put my bumper on a tree, doubled the winch line and drug him off the rock, great time was had by all.

Are they now offering a locker in the rear axle as an option? That's cool. Is it selectable?

Spoke to my dealer today, much to my pleasant surprise, he said they are building it now with an estimated ship date of Aug 13th!!!! That puts it here around the end of August, just in time for the annual canoe trip with the guys. Can't Wait!!!
