So, I was playing around in my Rubi on my birthday. Lets just say I was 'off roading' ....in Brooklyn NY. Anyways, I got my baby a bit dinged up. Here's the damage. I had the alignment fixed, and it runs like new. What do you guys think. How important is the repair?

Yes definitely get it fixed. Looks like a lot metal stretch which only weakened the rest. If it was to break at highway speeds it could be bad. By the way, how did you do it.

Maybe it's being at work too long...am I seeing this right...you 'tweaked' the control arm mount to the axle tube? Fix it.

Have a friend with a welder? It should be a relatively quick fix. Can't really tell from the pictures, but is the control arm bent too?

they're called $tealer$hip$ for a reason. Do you belong to a club? I'd bet a dime over a worn out nickel that someone in your Jeep/4x4 club could help you for relatively cheap... From my limited experience, it looks like you need to simply cut off the old mount, clean it up and replace it with new mount (clean it up and weld it on). In my experience, its parts+beer+pizza=fixed Jeep if you're willing to help. The stock control arms are a dime a dozen...many people have them laying around and will give them away...so if the LCA is tweaked, replace it.
On the other hand, tell the dealership that you were using your Jeep in the manner it was designed to be used and see if they will repair it...assuming that it's still within the 3/36.

I should be under the 3/36 hm...
Oddly enough, this could be from offroading upstate NY. Maybe I just happened to look now from being an idiot.
What would you recommend I say? Just offroaded a bit and it came up bent?

Just offroaded a bit and it came up bent? exactly...tell them you were upstate on the trails and it must have been damaged by a rock or tree stump on the trail. I can see it now... "seriously, this thing isn't only Trail Rated...it's a Rubicon, so it must be really trail rated. If it can't hold up to some mild off roading, what can I expect when I go to Colorado and Utah this summer? Look at the little badge on the side....T-R-A-I-L Rated...this isn't a Durango, or a Pacifica. It's a freakin' Jeep Wrangler RUBICON." Of course, keep it in a respectful manner. How that sounds in Brooklyn...I dont' know.

Just to update. I got it all fixed up and everything. Ran me $500 for the dif seal and a new arm.
Anyways, just today I checked my 4 Wheel drive ( I thought I checked it before but maybe not)
It's giving me this kick that i never felt before. When cut it hard in 4. It fights me. And makes a jutting motion.
To say the least. Im pissed. Im not sure whats wrong with it now.

And makes a jutting motion. To say the least. Im pissed. Im not sure whats wrong with it now. Just to clarify, the dealership charge you $500 dollars for a new control arm bracket & control arm, and "diff seal"? 1st off, it just looked like your control arm mount and arm were slightly tweaked. New HD mounts, click here are not very expensive and you get a pair. An shop with a welder would charge no more than $90-$100 to weld these on. And a stock replacement control arm could probably be picked up from any junk yard or Jeep forum for next to nothing. Could you explain what they did with the "diff seal"? I'm not clear on that part? In fact, I'm not sure why they would even need to break into the diff to repair the damage that you showed us? (That is of course unless something else let go or broke inside of the diff, that you didn't initially realize.) Are you trying to turn the Jeep on pavement while in 4-LO? Mine does the same thing when the tires are aired up, and I'm on pavement in 4-LO. You didn't have it locked while you were doing this did you? (this would only amplify that feeling you were having.) IMO-If all that was busted was the CA mount and control arm, and they got into your diff, I wouldn't want to know why. Did you go to a dealership? If you did, scan and post up the invoice and we might be able to see exactly what they did for $500. It just seems like an awful lot of $$$ for something that shouldn't of ran you more than $150 or $200 if an alignment was done after the repair. ryan

When cut it hard in 4. It fights me. And makes a jutting motion. Depending on how hard it "jutts" there might not be anything wrong. This is normal for any 4wd system on pavement. You can expect a bumping motion when the wheel is cut 90%+ and there is no slippage in the wheels. I have had this on all of my Jeeps and my full size pickup. Now if it is real bad then that might be a different story... You want to share how all of this happened? That might shed some light on what might be broken.
