Was in a forum the other day and saw some CJ's with no mods. They were beauties. Wondering how valuable our Unlimiteds will be after a few years if we dont mod them so much. Read CJ 8's are going for a pretty penny now. I was planning on getting my wheels (FINALLY) and some smittybuilt flares in the near future but am having second thoughts. I always gawk at muscle cars when I see them and how nice they look original. Just a thought.

I was thinking about going back to stock cause i also tought that it looked pretty good bone stock. Since we use our jeeps out on the trails it would be hard keeping them all stock.I think our jeeps look real sweet when their lifted and don't think that they would really loose that much value. I also think if you take care of the jeep everytime you come back from wheeling it would last longer and look good for years to come.

Some mods are a good thing, store the basic stuff like the flares and things that might be hard to come by later on. but for the most part there will be parts out there to get it back to stock. Mod on!

True. I even kept the stock suspension when I had the other one installed.

I use mine as a daily driver and a weekend warrior. I wouldn't even think about going back to stock. I'll be honest, I enjoy the attention it gets, getting behind a school bus, and the kids going wild, people get to know you, because it stands out. Better yet...trail worthy, a deep snow, when everone is snowed in, I'm out playing. I have been considering lately, getting an old cj or xj, and just building it up with stuff laying around the shop, and then beat the piss out of it. If I want to swap equiptment, I can do so. So for each his own. The look of stock is great, but IMO, ridin' high is where its at! ~JN

That would be like dating Jessica Simpson and never going past first base even though she was beggin for it. When I got the rig, I knew she wanted it and I am going to give it to her (mods) for a long time while she's still young.

It is a JEEP one of the great things about that is the fact everyone can put there own little or big touches to it in order to separate it from everyone else, plus by going big you get all the attention on the road and off when you just craw over that rock that a stock vehicle got stuck on, but to each their own, No mater what you do with your Jeep as long as you are enjoying it and haven FUN !!!!!!!!

Would you really refrain from doing something you want to do, because you hope that 20 years from now your Jeep will be worth something? What are the chances that you'll still have the Jeep by the time the value goes up? If it goes up at all? As for Scramblers being worth a "pretty penny", that really depends on what went into it. Unless the Jeep has been sitting on blocks in a garage somewhere since the 80s, it is going to need a ton of work before it is worth any real money. By the time an old CJ is completely rebuilt, you'll be lucky to break even. I don't expect to do as much to my Wrangler as I have to my Scrambler, but it is lifted and it's ready to go. My Jeeps are here for me to enjoy, and when I'm done with them I don't care if they're worth a nickel.

My Jeeps are here for me to enjoy, and when I'm done with them I don't care if they're worth a nickel. Well said I doubt if the LJ's will be that coveted by collectors, but there is a possibility. In that case, as long as the essentials are in good shape, things like the suspension will be less significant. Jeeps don't seem to have the same appeal as muscle cars when it comes to matching stock components.

There are many that prefer STOCK. I was told by some High School kids today that my Jeep is " Kick Ass ". It's so clean right now they thought it was new. Scrambler 81, that was well said. And no, I would not refrain from something I really wanted to do. If keeping it stock is what I wanted to do, I would do it. We all enjoy our Jeeps in our own way. I enjoy my Jeep everyday I drive it. Everytime my daughter asks me what car I'm taking her to school in and I say the Jeep and she says, YAY. As for me, when I'm done I hope my Jeep is worth more than a "nickel". But as I said at the end of my post. JUST A THOUGHT. Me, enjoying my Jeep.

Nice rig. This year I'll probably be using the returns we get from Uncle Sam to add to my Jeep. Noticed you have a different bumper on that last pic.
