who thinks fender flairs should match the color of a jeep or stay black. I'm changing to the new xonon flares and can't decide. Paint is flaking off every time I wash it at a car wash ,I got all off one flair with just water on rinse Black Silver

I like the way the black looks on most, but some color matching would be nice.
IMO, the black makes a nice contrast with lighter colors...white/silver...and the yellows and bright greens.
Blues, blacks, and reds I like matching colors.
Which zenon flares are you getting? The normal style or the flat fender style?
If you go with the flat fender style i'd definitely paint them, if normal, I'd say stick with black.

Paint 'em. I've always liked the look of Sahara's and my last Jeep was a white Sahara. If you got the flat fender style Xenon's, (Great choice by the way...definitely on my list of WANTS), paint them. They will look pretty trick on your rig. BUT, that is just one man's opinion. Good luck and post pics when you get them mounted.

I am a black flare kinda guy, but paint looks just as good. Remember, the flares are sometimes the first areas to get nailed, trail damage, some idiot at the food store, not watching where his door is opening, ect. Good Luck!!!!

I like my color-matched flares. One plus not mentioned yet is that they don't suffer the same fading effect as the bare plastic. If they are painted properly (prep is key) they shouldn't chip so easily. Sanded, cleaned with acetone, primed, painted (several coats, wet sanded in between), and a clear coat (several coats). You could also try this method (though I have no personal experience).

If you take your Jeep on the trails I say leave them black. My flares are all scuffed from use. If they were painted they would look like crap. But I wheel mainly in tight spaces. If your in the wide open do what you like best. Post up pics when your done. Those flat fender flares look interesting.
